Wanna visit Stockholm on a budget? Well lucky for you we’ve been to Stockholm many times and stayed there for a while which made us feel somehow like locals and we are up to sharing some advice for cool and cheap places.
Let’s face it, everybody likes to travel but not everyone can afford it. But not every journey is “doomed” to be expensive as hell and we’re going to prove that to you about Stockholm by sharing some of our first hand experience around the city.
Certainly not easy but be sure it’s very possible. No doubt Stockholm is on the list of most expensive cities in the world and you’ll definitely have to visit with your budget calculated but that doesn’t necessarily means that you’ll go over your budget. As any other bigger metropolitan city, Stockholm has to offer places and for any budget and preference.
Remember that you don’t always have to be accommodated in hotel. Airbnb has tons of places to offer around the whole city for prices ranging from $10 and above for one night.
The transport all around the city is well organized and you can use your pass for both buses and trains. A weekly pass would cost about $41 for adults and $28 for reduced fare (children from 6 to 19 years and students) + plus an additional $2.5 one time price for the card.
Also, don’t even bother using taxi unless it’s urgent because they’ll rip you off.
We would definitely recommend you visit the city center along with the old town of Gamla stan where you can find cool gifts to bring back home for your friends and family. Best of all? It doesn’t costs a anything to feel the spirit of the city!
If you’re up to shopping maybe, then look out for the cool shops in the Mall of Scandinavia which is actually the biggest mall in the Nordic region.
Occasional discounts are happening everyday so have a walk even if you’re on the budget, maybe you’ll find something that you’ve been searching for recently on a discounted price.
Ikea, Ikea, Ikea… here is the home of one of the world’s most famous brands, Ikea. Prices are definitely cheaper than anywhere else in the world but you wouldn’t be able to take a couch with you in your suitcase, would you? 🙂
Sigtuna is considered to be the oldest town in Sweden dating from the 10th century. It has many beautiful sights like the one on the photo and many historical places such as royal palaces, castles and churches.
Along with that, there is also some cool restaurants and shops around the town but we wouldn’t advise any since we’re up to visiting Stockholm on a budget, remember? 😉
